Place the clear acrylic template over the material you plan to use and align it to optimize the character of the material. Then trace the outline and use a band saw, scroll saw, or jig saw to cut away the material just outside of the line. Using clamps, double sided tape, or the masking tape and super glue method, secure the template to the material. Then use a template bit in your router to finish shaping your board perfectly to the outline of the template. If you want to add a recessed pocket to the board you can use one of the cutout included with the template, just align where desired and use a shallow template bit in your router.
